The Sustainable Homes program is an initiative of the Queensland Government's and provides the industry and communities throughout Queensland with display homes which incorporate principles of sustainable design and performance utilising the Smart & Sustainable Homes Design Objectives.

Builders and trade contractors should take note: From 1 March 2009, a number of sustainability requirements in the Queensland Development Code will change or be amended.
These changes and amendments will affect building development applications for all Class 1 and Class 2 buildings. You should be aware of and understand the requirements when pricing work and before you enter into a building contract, to ensure you don't need to make costly variations down the track.
