Executive Committee
Master Builders is governed by an elected Executive Committee, which is chartered with the responsibility of conducting the business of Master Builders between Council meetings within the policies and budget of the organisation.
Derek Pingel (President)
After completing his carpentry and joinery apprenticeship in Gatton in 1979, Derek founded Pingel Homes. Since then he has been involved in a variety of business ventures and operations throughout south east Queensland. Pingel Homes has won in excess of 100 industry awards.
Derek also served as President from 2002 until 2006 and has also previously held the positions of Housing Committee Chairman and Downs & Western Committee Chairman.
Michel Mouglalis (Vice President)
Michel began his career as a carpenter and joiner in Sydney's commercial construction sector. In 1969 he started his own business in commercial construction building a variety of units, townhouses and commercial office buildings.
In 1978 he won a contract to build a nursing home on the Gold Coast, which eventually led him to establish a permanent office in Queensland. His company, Golden Edge Homes focuses on building prestigious residential housing and has received numerous industry awards.
Glenn Rashleigh (Chairman Construction)
Glenn has held the position of South East Queensland Manager for Barclay Mowlem Construction Ltd for the past seven years. Prior to this he was Northern Territory General Manager for a period of four years.
He joined Barclay Mowlem in 1980 on the Performing Arts project and has gained a wealth of experience in a diverse range of projects. He is responsible for an annual turnover of $200 million spanning from northern NSW to the Sunshine Coast area and is responsible for over 120 staff.
Ralf Dutton (Chairman Housing)
Ralf Dutton has worked in a variety of roles in the building industry throughout his career and is now proprietor of Value Homes (NQ) Pty Ltd, Cavalier Homes Cairns and John O'Grady Quality Homes Pty Ltd.
He began work as an architectural draftsman while studying for his building qualification and became a registered builder in 1978. He worked for Ballantyne Homes from 1979 to 1992 after which he began his first of many successful businesses.
Rick Burns (Treasurer)
Rick Burns' career in the building and construction industry has spanned many years and ranged from survey and architectural work, through to completing studies in Applied Science (Building).
He is the founder and director of PJ Burns, a building company with two offices and more than 30 staff.
Rick joined Master Builders in November 1984, became a Chairman of the Sunshine Coast Division Committee of Management in 1995, Chairman of the Sunshine Coast Division Housing Sector Committee in 2000 and State Councillor in 2001.
Martin Brooke (Executive Member)
Graduating from Salford University with B.Sc(Hons) Building in 1973, Martin went on to hold various Site Engineer and Construction Manager positions in the United Kingdom before immigrating to Adelaide in 1982 where he joined Baulderstone Pty Ltd as a Senior Project Manager.
In 1993 Martin moved to Townsville and established CBQ Pty Ltd, which specialised in the construction of public and defence projects. Since leaving CBQ, Martin continues to undertake various consultancy and private development projects.
A member since 1995, Martin has held various positions in North Queensland including committee member, treasurer and chairman.
John Gaskin (Executive Member)
John served as President from 2006 until 2008 and previously held positions of Vice President and Chairman Construction.
He is widely considered to be one of Queensland's industry leaders.
John's reputation, which has been established over 40 years, has been earned though his success in delivering some of the State's landmark developments. John's professional abilities are matched by his personal manner which has seen him develop alliances across the industry with colleagues, competitors, consultants and clients.
Kathy Seaman (Executive Member)
Kathy began her property career in land sales in south east Queensland in 1976. Since then, Kathy has gained extensive experience and knowledge in the residential building industry.
In 1990, Kathy was granted her own Queensland builders licence and established Queensland Originals. She has continued with residential building and award winning boutique developments, and recently branched into the factory built homes market on the Sunshine Coast.
Kathy has worked extensively within the industry on various committees, including roles with Workplace Health and Safety, the HIA and various Master Builders' committees.
